ABSTRACT
Research in medicine and health care is obliged to take heed of issues related to ethics and confidentiality. In most high-income countries, such issues are regulated by laws and regulations intended to guarantee that the interests related to the participants’ welfare and integrity is given priority before interests related to science and society. Medical research ethics also reflect general ethical norms. In research, the aim of the study will always determine the kind of method that will provide the best answers. Qualitative metasynthesis is one of several qualitative research methods and entails the appraisal of many different designs. During the research process, researchers could take the time to imagine the human beings who contributed to the knowledge we want to synthesize. Qualitative metasynthesis is one out of many available strategies for upcycling research evidence, developing the research field and strengthening researchers knowledge capital.
