ABSTRACT

The structure of a home should work in the best interests of the children sheltered. As the societal goals form a conceptual framework and set of principles within which all the homes should operate, their adequacy is of the utmost importance. The societal goals remained constant throughout the study and applied equally to all the homes involved. The formal goals at Cyan were not only well articulated but were also based on and worked within the wider philosophy of the therapeutic community to which they belonged. Green was typical of the homes that fluctuated but kept abreast of their overall aims and objectives. There will be quantitative work adding up and cross-tabulating factors and qualitative insights from those living and working in the homes. Eventually, the aim is to produce methods for managers to test the results in their own setting.
