ABSTRACT

NACRO The National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders is a national charitable organisation founded in 1966 to replace the National Association of Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Societies (created 1936). Its aim is to ‘stimulate, co-ordinate and service’ voluntary effort in relation to prison welfare work, the after-care of offenders and crime prevention. As such, it is a powerful pressure group for penal reform (q.v.).
