ABSTRACT
Depending on how and when one dates the social scientific disciplines, they are between a century and a century and a half old. The record of modern science is quite recent, and its social scientific disciplines are infants when compared to the wisdom traditions of Indigenous peoples around the world. Reading, disputing (or arguing), and examining are the three tasks that contain and organize all the class’s activities. This chapter describes each of them in more detail, including the details of the discrete assignments required to fulfil them. The author primarily approaches this course in the second sense of theories of education. For instance, his criterion when choosing the readings was that they must provide an explicit theory of education. Likewise, all writing in relation to the readings will examine the theories of education that the readings contain.
