ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the content provided in the preceding chapters, and provides strategies for organizing the material presented in the rest of the book. Specific organizational schemes describe ways to help teachers simplify the content and to help them with their instructional planning. The chapter also includes a menu of potential motivational strategies from which teachers can choose when developing instructional plans or use as a checklist against which to assess their instructional plans. In addition, a set of questions for various instructional activities is offered as a way to guide thinking about enhancing motivation in the classroom. These include questions relevant for all activities, for specific listening and reading activities, and for activities that require active response.
