ABSTRACT

Strength and power endurance are important for sports that require repeated high-intensity efforts. This chapter discusses different strength and power endurance assessments that can be used with a range of populations. Several assessments can be used for measurement of strength and power endurance, ranging from bodyweight tests such as push ups and sit ups to exercises performed with external loads for maximum repetitions. Protocols for a variety of power endurance tests are presented, along with research that has been conducted in this area with different populations. Repeated jump tests are covered in detail, along with sports-specific tests.
