ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on copyright ownership and infringement in the context of the activities on multi-sided music platforms. It undertakes the following tasks: highlights the copyright terms applied in multi-sided music platforms; explains the exclusive rights under the copyright framework that apply specifically to the activities on multi-sided music platforms; explains how copyright infringement can occur in multi-sided music platforms; identifies available and possible defences to copyright infringement as it relates to multi-sided music platforms; and highlights basic jurisdictional aspects of a claim for copyright infringement (particularly in Nigeria).
