ABSTRACT

A good workstation is a working curriculum space subject to change whenever needed. One of the main premises of the workstations is that everybody is working toward grade level standards all year. Based on the big ideas, educators must then consider what are the best learning activities to get the students to where they need to be. Having familiar activities facilitates the process of being able to go to a workstation and get started and be on task. The structure could be the same but the details could be different, meaning that clip cards are a basic structure for workstations. They can be used in counting, fluency, workstations and word problems. In terms of levelled math workstations, responsive guidance is about teachers responding to students’ stages of understanding through intentional learning opportunities and practice. Teachers scaffold the learning landscapes through levelled activities that meet the specific needs of individual students.
