ABSTRACT

Recently I was involved in a Twitter chat where educators where discussing ways to increase parental (family) involvement with schools. There were many suggestions, some simple and others that seemed quite complex. To me the first key to increasing parental involvement with schools is to make sure every student has really good teachers. If there is a positive student–teacher relationship then parents are so much more likely to want to be involved in schools. If the students come home in a positive frame of mind related to school, there is much more likelihood of student success.
