ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores search for a greater understanding and appreciation of the importance of Faith to the individual believer, its transmission within the family and the implications within the classroom. Since the Second World War there has been an extensive range of new religious movements developing within the UK. The difference in the range of beliefs and practice between successive generations has had a noticeable effect on the classroom and no doubt will continue to do so. The effect within the classroom is that teachers may be tempted to generalise, but they must ensure that beliefs which depart from those commonly held are treated with understanding and sensitive awareness. Teachers should never guess or make up answers as the children question about religion.
