ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the limitations of our threat assessment model, one of which is that it is effective in situations (controlled environments, such as schools, campuses, and workplaces) where accurate baseline behaviors can be constructed, and anomalies identified that vary above or below the determined baseline behaviors. In addition, there are limitations associated with the knowledge base related to active killers, such as the accuracy of the data and its sources as well as the validity and reliability of the research studies that are associated with that data and its sources. The limitations of our Predictive Behavioral Threat Forecasting Model also include that the strategy of forecasting is inherently less than 100% effective as well as being costly and requiring specialized training.
