ABSTRACT

This chapter will explore how to apply important clinical considerations to the treatment of racial injury and trauma in schools. The foundations of a trauma-informed approach and guidance about utilizing evidence-based approaches will be discussed. This chapter will also include information on topics that are highly relevant to those who are beginning their journey in the clinical treatment of racial trauma. Important clinical considerations including practitioner self-reflection, diversity in interventions, transference and countertransference, and helpful reminders to guide practice will be emphasized.
