ABSTRACT

In July, Staple Hill Stars preschool experienced the extremes of weather, but the beginning of the month was very hot. The temporary sunshades were put up so that the children could continue to access the garden all day. In spite of the heat, the children continue to be as lively as ever, and as long as they are well hydrated, wear sun hats and have plenty of sunscreen, the play in the outdoor area continues all day. As the year has progressed, the children have become more assertive in their requests for particular activities, and trips to the shops are a frequent suggestion. In the last few days of term, the weather suddenly changed and the rain was torrential. For some of the children in the toddler room, this is the end of their journey in this room, and they will move into the preschool room in September.
