ABSTRACT

All staffs are interacting with all children, but they will just be recording significant interactions with a few ‘focus children’ each week, along with ‘Wow!’ moments for any child. The activity of a ‘picnic’ was enough of an enticement to make this possible. Reuben has been exploring the various loose parts and objects in the garden. Annabelle can be seen in the photo that follows, exploring the creative area and, in particular, the felt-tip pens. Some children have already begun to tidy up independently, and others still need reminding. As October comes to an end, the staffs are exhausted, but they can see that the children have settled, routines are established, relationships are growing and the children are making wonderful progress. Their hard work and commitment are paying off, and the year promises to be challenging but rewarding for everyone.
