ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the case study of a Cynthia. Cynthia was born in 1981 in a suburban area of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. As Cynthia is about to recount, expressions or colloquialisms used in one country do not seamlessly translate from one country to another. She was in stiches with laughter when she relayed this anecdote about when she first arrived in Sydney to take up a job at St Vincent’s Hospital. Texas is a long way from Zimbabwe, both in distance and in every other way. Cynthia who was very accustomed to open space and big landscapes. Cynthia decided that what she needed at that moment was to create a new challenge. Cynthia did have some other issues on her wish list apart from an urban hospital and limited administration tasks. In many ways Cynthia feels that she has achieved what she had set out to achieve and learnt a lot professionally along the way.
