ABSTRACT

Drawing up a revision timetable which demonstrates that students have enough time to complete they revision can be invaluable in calming pre-assessment nerves. Obvious though it may seem, ensure that students are familiar with the syllabus of their course and the format of their assessment. It is very unlikely that students will be expected to know everything that they have studied in order to succeed in an unseen assessment, as undergraduate examinations tend to require they to answer three questions from a choice of six, or four from a choice of eight. Trying to ‘learn’ EU law by rote is boring, hard work and unlikely to produce particularly good results. Although some rote learning is inevitable, what students should endeavour to do is try to ensure that they understand the law, particularly why it has developed as it has.
