Introduction

The introduction gives a summary of the nature of gender issues and biases past and present in social and educational contexts. Current gender bias and discrimination in education and the dyslexia field is discussed and 11 issues are identified that need to be reviewed. The contribution of transgender experiences is used to evidence the key issues.
