ABSTRACT

Part 3 discusses Jung’s use of Reichstein’s case as example in different publications. He wrote in one of his letters that he learned a lot from her. Jung’s comment engenders an important question: what did he learn from her? And what happened in Reichstein’s treatment that led Jung to mention her case in some of his presentations? This chapter focuses on Jung’s presentation of her case: the first time he mentioned Reichstein’s case was on the seminar on Kundalini yoga. The second was in 1937 in his paper ‘The Realities of Practical Psychotherapy’. Finally, the third presentation of her case was in 1950, in ‘Concerning Mandala Symbolism’, a text based on a seminar Jung delivered in Berlin in 1930, in which Jung published her mandalas.
