ABSTRACT

On all occasions and in every place the teachers have been caring for their children, easing their sorrows and sharing their joys. A more detailed examination of the returns revealed that there was a substantial degree of agreement among the teachers on the following points, which are given without comment, before they and other matters, concerning which there was a greater division of opinion. Teachers record that children confided in them in a way which was unusual before evacuation. The way in which they have been thrown together has led to a similar increase in the comradeship not only of the children and their fellows, but also of teachers and their colleagues. Many teachers have felt that the fact that they are able to meet socially out of school is largely responsible, but others believe that the better understanding is due to mutual sympathy in the matter of separation from home amenities.
