ABSTRACT
The Street Railway Accountants’ Association of America is fortunate in having very efficient executives, who are always forehanded in plans and arrangements. In connection with the model credit department, arrangements have been made by which more or less of a complete accounting department shall also be shown. The contemplated exhibit in the line will include a scientific accounting system, arranged in a form to apply to small mercantile establishments, and also shown in its interpretation for the largest mercantile and manufacturing concerns. The Yost typewriter is something that appears in the department that can be read without a translation. Various works on accounting and various accounting conveniences are also described. The use of the double-account system should imply that a portion of the share capital is represented by “fixed capital” assets. Bookkeeping as an art may be defined as the practical application of the principles of accounts to the records of business.
