ABSTRACT

The annual convention of the Institute of Accounts, which occurred the first of June, is reported in another page of the issue. The present legal status of accountants in Great Britain is far from satisfactory to many members of the profession residing therein. The bill sets forth a registration scheme, by which it is proposed to recognize only qualified accountants, and to debar unqualified accountants from practicing. A proposition to effect an international organization of accountants would doubtless result in a hearty response from both sides of the water, and find all both willing and eager for the opportunity to associate with each other and the ensuing benefits. The Balance Sheet System of Accounts is essentially, first, a plan of classification of accounts, and, second, a method of supplying the deficiencies in the ordinary double entry in a way to round out and complete the plan upon which double entry is based.
