ABSTRACT
The opportunities of the Institute, referred to, grow out of the interest that the business public is manifesting in all matters relating to accounts, and the experience which it has had to date in the formation of chapters. A numbered tag for every twenty-fifth page enables him to open within a few leaves of any page wanted or to readily find items or accounts entered numerically. The opening meeting of the autumn and winter season of the New York Chapter of the Institute of Accounts was held at the Waldorf-Astoria on the evening of September 21. The efforts of competent accountants are often made practically useless by the illogical and loose way in which inventories are priced or valued. The reserve accounts accumulate that which has been charged into cost of product and what is kept in hand to make good the depreciation of plant, whenever the opportunity occurs.
