ABSTRACT

The biophysical, social, and spiritual model reveals that healthcare, which came from the patients-first philosophy, can be divided into four steps. These are biological, psychological, social and spiritual. When patients are sick, faith comes stronger, and sometimes it can improve health profile, may reduce healthcare utilization, and at times make them better. Assessment of the religions, resources, and preferences is critical when talking to the patient. Belief or religion almost always plays some role during situations where the continuum of care has reached a point where discussion of end of life begins. Significant religions have some official statement about artificial nutrition and possible life-prolonging activities. Religion mostly expresses inner spiritual beliefs. Eighty percent of the physicians believe they are obliged to present all options to their patients. Seventy-one percent can actually being referred to other physician in case procedure or more specialists visits are needed and the physician are in disagreement.
