ABSTRACT

As pointed out at the outset of this study, the overall objective of this report is to compare the differences in agricultural productivity changes between the nine selected socialist countries. Hence, measurement of productivity change is extremely important for this study. The theoretical framework of productivity index and the different approaches to constructing productivity statistics was laid out in Chapter II. The results of the empirical model presented in Chapter III provided some insight on the relationships between inputs and outputs. The estimated metaproduction function also provided information on the factor shares of corresponding inputs. All of these analyses were prepared for the construction of the productivity indices in this chapter.
