TheArmytrainsandutilizesenlistedpersonnelinawidevarietyofmilitaryoccupationalspecialties(MOS),rangingfromrelativelyunskilledtohighlyskilled,from largespecialtiestosmall-almost60,000Armyenlisteesareinfantrymen,forexample, whilefewerthan150areNikeradarrepairersorterrainintelligenceanalysts.Specialtiesmayhavehighciviliantransferability(airtrafficcontroller)orlowtransferability (tankcrewman),andalsovaryastothelevelofsuchdisamenitiesasfamilyseparation andundesirabletours.Managingpersonneltosuchvariedoccupationscanbechallenging,especiallyasmanagersmustconsidernotonlythenumberofenlisteesneeded ineachspecialty,butalsoadesiredskillorgradeprofile.
