ABSTRACT
It was part of God's plan that the prophets, patriarchs and law-givers of Israel should serve as 'pedagogues' - as moral tutors guiding the Children of Israel and preparing them for Christ. As Paul wrote to the Galatians: the law of Moses was 'our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ' ('our pedagogue', literally). 1
