ABSTRACT

Jaroslaw Kaczynski has worked closely with Lech Walesa since June 1989 and was the main proponent of his presidency. He filled the role of editor in chief of Tygodnik Solidarnosc, created and led the Center Alliance party, and during 1989-1991 served as a senator in parliament. From December 1990 to November 1991 he was the chief of staff in the president's office, holding the rank of minister. Arkadiusz Rybicki was one of the leaders of the Young Poland movement, a right-of-center opposition group, and its successor organization, the Republican Coalition. The selection of Wojciech Jaruzelski was an error that had a damaging effect on the rebirth of democracy. Jarostaw Kaczynski: In the Belweder Palace Walcsa has created a facility unsuitable for guiding the nation. So far its activities are not leading us directly to disaster, but they do have a negative impact on the president's authority, cause confusion, and offend democratic principle.
