ABSTRACT

On December 10, 1921, Liao Chung-k'ai, Kai-shek, and I arrived in Wuchow, where we found Dr. Sun more optimistic than ever in his Generalissimo Headquarters. He and Mme Sun welcomed us and made us feel at home. In fact, as we arrived, Dr. Sun was in the midst of drafting a telegram to General Ch'en Chiung-ming requesting him to come to Wuchow for an urgent meeting and inquiring when supplies and ammunition would be forthcoming. The following day his reply came "Cannot leave because of several important meetings stop shall come as soon as I possibly can." This telegram gave Dr. Sun a feeling of new encouragement, and he waited patiently in keen anticipation.
