ABSTRACT
Remote in the North Atlantic, Iceland usually gets attention in the media only when there are problems regarding fish or the base at Keflavik. Today, both of these fronts are calm. This does not mean, however, that nothing is going on. Although less important than Iceland strategically, any discussion of nordic waters should also include the other islands in the North Atlantic, the Faeroes, Jan Mayen, and Spitzbergen.
