ABSTRACT
Howorth arrived at the fleet anchorage at Ulithi Atoll on March 19 and spent five days receiving repairs from the crew of the destroyer tender Prairie. The daylight hours of March 26 were spent loading ammunition and refueling the ship. Shortly after noon the next day, Howorth sortied with the other ships of Destroyer Division 90 to escort one of the transport groups to Okinawa. Heavy weather made the voyage especially uncomfortable.
