ABSTRACT

By this time Charlie has established a reputation as an extremely careful and conscientious sailor with a tendency toward workaholism. He appears to fit well in a circle of quality petty officers who like him. He has been given responsible positions and has not disappointed those who have trusted him. His care with the quarterly reports and equipment inventories reflect directly to the credit of the officers for whom he works. Principal among these are LCdr John Edie, the executive officer, and Cdr. John Fraser Luby, Mohican's Commanding Officer. These officers recommend Charlie to the naval station paymaster, Ellsworth H. Van Patten, for the position of Warrant Paymaster Clerk.
