ABSTRACT

The educational attainment of either parent did not exert a significant influence on the growth of their children, other than education providing a pathway to economic success, material well-being, and their correlates. In addition, these values have been adjusted for any confounding effects of stimulation or physical growth. There is a clear relationship between SES and IQ, as indicated by the regression line. In addition, these values have been adjusted for any confounding effects of stimulation or physical growth. There is a clear relationship between SES and IQ, as indicated by the regression line. The combined negative effects of SES and stimulation on mental development may be illustrated by examining the mean IQ of children at the low end of the distributions for both measures of the environment. In addition to the state-supported school, a number of small private schools, generally sponsored by charitable, often religious, organizations were located in and adjacent to the community.
