ABSTRACT

Fidel Castro, the unifying force of the Cuban Revolution and its political and ideological leader, stands as a constant reminder of the military victory over bourgeois dictatorship and imperialism. Undoubtedly, the daring warrior of Cuba's revolutionary epic possesses extraordinary qualities. A natural leader who perpetually urges his team onward, Fidel has managed to make his charisma a routine part of daily life in Cuba. One student of the early Fidel called him a radical voluntarist, implying that his decisions were not entirely the result of external conditions. In other words, he determined what warranted action. This line of thinking corresponds to that of another observer, who felt that the Cuban leader demonstrated an "aristocratic spirit, a faith in the role of the elite" to decide what necessitates action. Matters of significance to the community interest him.
