ABSTRACT

Consciousness prepares people for revolutionary ideology, develops a collective judgment, a societal consensus, and a desire for equality. Cubanness is a part of political consciousness and creates new loyalties and unity and reduces alienation. An integral part of Fidel Castro’s revolutionary ideology is the aforementioned rejection of materialism. Once Cubans buy into Fidel’s ideology, they become more than socialists. For the sake of examining the Cuban Revolution in an organized fashion, this is a valid technique. A categorization of the stages of the Cuban Revolution according to the thinking of Karl Marx would indicate that the bourgeois-democratic phase began in January 1959. While preparing for socialism and constitutionalism in Cuba, Fidel drew inspiration from a series of intellectual precursors and mentors. Revolution is part of the creative process, according to Marx, who stated that he “who has a Raphael in him should be afforded the opportunity to develop freely,” a philosophy adopted by Fidel.
