ABSTRACT

The chapters that follow have a common format. The core of each chapter is a set of tables linked by a common theme. We begin each chapter with a synopsis of what we consider to be the most salient findings. This brief introduction also includes a list of the questions used to derive the tables presented in that section. The exact wording of the English version of the questionnaire appears in Appendix One. Where there are comparable data, we also present a list of tables from Latino Voices: Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban Perspectives on American Politics (de la Garza et al. 1992). Latino Voices offers a wealth of comparative data for native-born Latinos and for Puerto Ricans, who were not a part of the National Latino Immigrant Survey sample. Throughout the volume, we keep the description to a minimum because we believe that the tables speak largely for themselves.
