ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on migration patterns as determined from various analyses of the 1980 Mexican census. While the information is from the 1980 census, the data are such that an analysis of the population native to state indicates to what extent there has been historical population movement among various Mexican states. In contrast, an analysis also is presented comparing migration streams between 1979 and 1980. Other information is presented on lifetime inmigrante and out-migrants and inmigrante and outmigrants for the previous year, e.g., 1979 - 1980. Net migration for the time period of 1979 - 1980 also is shown. Finally, inmigration for the 272 municipios for the she Mexican states along the U.S. border is presented. As in previous chapters, the information described is only a small part of that available.
