ABSTRACT

The parameters of future total energy demand, electrical energy demand and nuclear electrical energy demand for the US and the rest of the world were examined in Chapter I. Actual trends as well as future commitments indicating increased reliance on nuclear power were observed both here and abroad. While relatively low fuel cost experience and projections were seen to favor nuclear power from light water reactors, in comparison with the alternatives examined in Chapters II, III and IV, a number of unresolved problems or uncertainties affect supply of nuclear fuel needed to meet projected nuclear electrical energy demand.
