ABSTRACT

Bibliographies issued as books, parts of books, pamphlets, journal articles, and microforms are included. All of the works cited were published between 1970 and 1979. Entries are divided into three major groups: publications of one type or format; geographical subjects; and topical subjects. Few discipline-based guides share the perspective of women's studies scholars -- indeed, most of them pay it no heed whatsoever -- but they may prove useful, especially to someone exploring a topic outside her specialization or major. Research guides usually give practical advice on search strategy, an outline of the organization of the discipline's literature, and a taste of the flavor of writing in the field. This ambitious guide lists reference books on the "social, educational, psychological, political, economic, anthropological and historical aspects of minorities and women in America." In addition, libraries often make available free booklets describing reference sources in various fields in their collections.
