ABSTRACT

Records of technical visits and technical notes are more formal documents, generally used as vehicles for transmitting brief technical information rapidly. The technical report is a formal document which records the results of a research and/or development investigation and where appropriate draws conclusions and makes recommendations. Some organizations will have one person, normally called the Technical Editor, whose principal function is to edit and control the reproduction of the company's internal technical reports. The manager will inevitably become involved in some form of editorial correction and to a lesser extent will perform the duties of a technical editor. To maintain an efficient editorial department the Technical Editor will need to set up a procedural system for report presentation. If reports are to be processed efficiently and effectively, each stage on the progress sheet will be allotted a certain time. By far the most widely used method of reproducing unpublished reports is offset lithography.
