ABSTRACT

An important point to remember when producing reports is the world shortage of paper, which sets a limit on the number of paper copies produced. In some organizations the information officer will be responsible for the production of research and development reports and some consideration of the subject may not be out of place. In the United States the report is produced in several ways. In some areas, such as defence work, the contractor will be responsible not only for delivery of hardware or results of testing, but for 'paper products': reports, memoranda, notes, specifications, testing plans, manuals and the like. The page size of reports is normally A4, and for legibility on microfiche the type-setting size should be such that in the final form of the report the main text size will not be less than 8pt. A report normally consists of introductory material, main body of the report, and reference material.
