ABSTRACT
This chapter describes some of the most important report centres in the United Kingdom and in the USA. National report centres where they exist are normally the best sources for obtaining reports except in very specialized fields. Such centres will collect reports not only from organizations in their own country but also from overseas sources. The functions of the Office of Scientific and Technical Information which are included in British Library Research and Development department include the sponsoring of research in information science. Defence Research Information Centre services are available to Government defence departments and defence contractors in industry and universities. The Technology Reports Centre is the Department of Industry's research and technical information centre. The congress science and technology division is a central point in the Library of Congress for reference, bibliographic, and consultative service in all fields of science and technology.
