ABSTRACT

The author describes the actual situation of psychoanalysis today, highlighting the serious criticisms waged against it over the past decades. He maintains that psychoanalysis must acknowledge some of the most severe criticisms in its regard, and in particular to renounce its claim to be a “science.” In fact, by renouncing its scientificity — which in no way excludes its heuristic value nor its validity — Lacanianism could play an important role in helping psychoanalysis to survive today.
