ABSTRACT
This chapter originated as a collection of observations about the style and modes of thought used by Bion in Cogitations. Thoughts in nuce, more elaborated thoughts, and thoughts which illuminate and vanish but can potentially be reorganised by the reader in a profitable way so that they can set off new thoughts in their turn. However, I want to start with some observations arising from the reading of a themed issue of Inquiry currently awaiting publication.
