ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 provides for reflections, conclusion and recommendations for further development of corporate governance in Tanzania. It also suggests additional areas that need to be addressed. Corporate good governance from the perspective of ethical conduct in business, which navigates beyond the jurisdiction of the law, is highlighted across all the leadership phases in Tanzania. The contextual topical reflections are meant to provide comparative relational attributes. Governance mechanisms resulting in governance shortfalls and consequent resource waste, culminating in poor performance, are reflected on in the chapter. The chapter represents the author’s take and wish for corporate governance in Tanzania into the future. Indeed, in our humble recommendations, we set out to respond to the question: What needs to be done at this juncture? The recommendations we offer do not encompass everything there is out there. They are cognizant of the different levels that are involved in public enterprise, leadership and industry, sectoral and societal levels. The recommendations, however, are restricted to the public enterprise and leadership.
