ABSTRACT

The conclusion reflects on the key theme which has emerged from the book: multidimensionality in the complex and at times apparently paradoxical dynamics of migration, development and change on village levels, as exemplified in the in-depth study of Tejam village in the Kumaun Himalayas. Various aspects of multidimensional migration dynamics as they have come to light in the study of the village microcosm are pulled together. The focus in the conclusions is first on extrapolating and discussing the conceptual and theoretical aspects which emerge from the study as a multidisciplinary contribution to migration studies. Second, a short section discusses relevant policy implications in the context of revisiting the (return) migration-development context.
