ABSTRACT

When we see how ardently Elvira desired to be united to Jesus by meditation through which she received His light and heard His voice in her soul, we can realize a little her ardent love for Him in the Sacrament of His love. She had a living faith in the Blessed Sacrament: “I was reading again one day the life of S. Catherine of Siena, at that point when our darling Jesus granted this Saint to be ravished in ecstasy and allowed her to place her lips to the wound of His sacred heart. I remained reflecting for some time on the happiness of the Saint and the exceeding great love of Jesus for her. Then it came into my mind that I had nothing to envy the Saint, save her living faith on account of which Jesus granted such great favours to her, since in His infinite love and mercy He grants to one like myself, although so unworthy, to receive beneath the little white host which hides from our poor eyes the splendour of His glory, the body, blood, soul and Divinity of my Lord with all the infinite treasures of His most sacred heart.
