This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book outlines a systematic way of approaching immersive storytelling: defining it, describing it, analysing it, researching its impacts, and acknowledging its shortcomings. It demonstrates how layered approach could be used as a way of critically engaging with one case study: Traces. This case study lent itself to an insightful exploration of the affective, spatial, sensorial, and embodied dimensions of immersion, as well as the processes that underpinned its creation. The book shows that different ways to approach researching an experience in order to judge whether it could be considered an example of immersive storytelling, ranging from participant interviews to research carried out as participant. It considers how immersive storytelling intersects with broader debates about society, economics, politics, and power. The book explains for critical encounters with immersive storytelling practice.
