ABSTRACT
ONE of the best known songs in Southern Mongolia is the song about the robber chief Su-mu-ling, the most dreaded and most notorious of all the bandit chiefs who in the years from 1920 to 1935 laid waste and plundered in the South Mongolian frontier regions.
