ABSTRACT

In the SDG era, the rise of indicators, metrics, and data-driven health governance has taken center stage. Indeed, the SDGs themselves are predicated in many cases upon the entanglements between aspirational goal setting, indicator-driven targets, and the collection of data. Sexual health as such is no exemption from this. In the following, we will examine the case of how data, indicators, and metrics impact and structure efforts to control and “end” the HIV epidemic.
