ABSTRACT

I begin by providing an overview of the scholarship already produced on feminine monstrosity or the monstrous-feminine. Specifically, I refer to Carol Glover and Barbara Creed’s works on gender in horror films and how they both articulate important questions about sexual difference in both the portrayal and audience members of the horror genre. Though I rely heavily on their work and insights, this chapter demonstrates how I intend to move beyond films and into a more transdisciplinary approach to the question of sexual difference and horror.
